Doug Hoerster
Vetrepreneur Franchise Coach
Navy Pilot, 11 years
Doug brings world class business, military and educational experience to his job as a Vetrepreneur Franchise Coach. After graduating from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, often recognized as the top business school in the world, Doug served as a Navy Pilot from 1996 to 2006. His stellar military service flying the P-3 Orion and leading sailors included two deployments, over 2,000 flight hours and a three year tour as a Fleet Pilot Evaluator for all P-3 squadrons stationed worldwide.
After leaving active duty, Doug worked as a merchandising and business leader for Giant Eagle, a large grocery retailer and wholesaler. While there, Doug was actively involved in establishing the company’s first Veterans Business Resource Group, which helped support veterans transitioning to a corporate environment as well as providing support and networking opportunities, serving as President for two years. Doug was also active in the Pittsburgh Veterans Employer Coalition, which was a group of large, like minded companies interested in filling openings and opportunities with military talent.
After corporate life and before joining Vetrepreneur, Doug worked in real estate, focusing on helping veterans and their families become first time home owners. He earned the Military Relocation Specialist Certification from the National Association of Realtors.
Doug has a wonderful wife of over twenty years, and a very cute but incredibly disobedient wheaten terrier named Seamus.
